Snugnote is built so that your notes belong to you. This page explains, in plain words, what Snugnote can see, where your data lives, and what our small servers do.
Where your notes live
Your pages, databases and attachments are saved as files in a folder called Snugnote in the storage you sign in with: your own Google Drive or Dropbox. In Dropbox the folder is Apps › Snugnote. Snugnote does not keep a copy of your notes on its servers. To make the app faster, your browser keeps a cached copy of files you've opened; it is deleted when you sign out.
Snugnote can be used on one device at a time. To know which one, it keeps a small file, session.json, in your Snugnote folder with a random ID and a label like "Chrome on Mac".
What Snugnote can access
Snugnote only asks for access to its own folder, never to the rest of your files.
| Account | Permission | Why |
|---|---|---|
drive.file | Create and edit the files Snugnote makes in your Drive. Snugnote can't see any other file in your Drive. | |
openid, email, profile | Know which Google account you are, so a Premium subscription is linked to you, and show your name and picture in the app. | |
| Dropbox | App folder: files.content.read, files.content.write | Read and save files inside Apps › Snugnote. Snugnote can't see anything else in your Dropbox. |
| Dropbox | account_info.read | Know which Dropbox account you are, and show your name and picture. |
Snugnote's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We don't sell your data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.
What our servers store
We keep a small account record: your account ID with Google or Dropbox, your email address, the date you first signed in, and whether you asked for product news. For Premium we also store your subscription status and plan, and your Stripe customer and subscription IDs. That's all. We never store your notes.
Emails
We send a few account emails: a welcome note when you first sign in, and a message when Premium starts, won't renew, or ends. Stripe sends payment receipts, invoices, renewal reminders and card problems. Product news is only sent if you turn on "Email me about new features" in your profile, and every such email has an unsubscribe link. Emails are delivered by Resend.
Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe, never to Snugnote.
Notion sync
When you connect Notion, Notion gives your browser an access token, which stays in your browser. Because Notion doesn't allow its API to be called from web pages, sync requests pass through Snugnote's relay on their way to your browser. The relay doesn't store or log page content. It only reaches the parts of Notion you chose to share, and it can only read, never change, your Notion pages.
Deleting your data
Your notes are files in your own storage, so you can delete the Snugnote folder at any time. You can remove Snugnote's access at Google or Dropbox, and Notion's at Notion → Settings → Connections. To delete your subscription record, cancel in "Manage subscription" and email us.
